Following on from Patrick's post, the easiest way to select your new queens is to wait for the first colony to swarm or attempt to. Remove all queencells. Wait a week and remove all the queencells again. By this time there will be lots more young bees to feed the young larvae you put in from your selected queen. (Miller, cupkit, graft or whatever). Give them a gentle feed and they will draw queencells well which should be sealed after 5 days. Then distribute in 6 -7 days time - before the queens emerge.
