It's sounds so obvious,I know, but how do you go about catching bees this time of year.
I need a dozen or so adults without damage for analysis.

Open hive, pull end frame out that has bees on, least likely to have queen on, check frame to make sure the queen is not on, brush/flick/pick off into honey jar.

Seal jar up

Make sure queen is not in jar, if she is, return to colony.

Do all this on a day that is least windy/wet and suited up. I would wear marigolds.

If getting on a day when bees are flying, around mid day, seal entrance and harvest flying bees that come back and can't get in.
