I have suggested to our County that we at least encourage everyone to put out any spare kit as a bait hive - every one that ends up in a box isn’t potentially in a chimney and saves someone a trip out.

The success rate of bait hives never ceases to amaze me. Makes you think about just how well the average hive suits bees. Mind you can’t possibly better the idealised wild holes in trees we hear about. A swarm Is free to choose them instead - but often doesn’t lol:

I couldn't remember that "other job" on the list for today - thanks for the reminder. Downside is I know I'll pick up the beekeeper down the road's bees  Upside is that when I see the scout bees checking them out, I'll know to check I have't missed one of my own about to go.
