Mr Newell's interest in beekeeping began in his teens, when a commercial beekeeper asked him to help out with his 500 hives.

"We hope to help bring mead back into the mainstream and raise knowledge of the importance of bees too."

an interesting article.

I found this photo fascinating as it shows 6 over 6 configurations under one roof, a method pushed by the American commercial beekeeper Mike Palmer.

I've seen the Michael Palmer stuff - or some of it. Worth having a look if anyone is interested.
The boxes in the photo look a it heath robinson - but the bees won't mind a bit!

I am not sure about mead though - it's not something that I am too keen on.
