If I'm just replacing a like for like queen (i.e. a laying one ) I simply pop her on the tops bars having dunked her in honey, by the time she is cleaned up the bees accept her.

Never tried the honey dunking thing but seen it on you tube etc.

Out of interest, are you removing the old queen first?

Patrick I don't allow them to become Q/L when changing I simply remove the old girl and introduce the new girl, placing her on the top bars all icky gives time for cleansing and to watch as she eventually ambles off down between the frames. When dunking it is a proper covering and not just a tickle.
It's not an regular occurence but a method I use if needed to, other wise I unite a nuc (once transfferred in to BB) over paper.
