Spring build up is better and far more advanced with the poly, can't fault the Abelo brood esp with the hard bottom and mating edges and the identical footprint/ compatibility. No ugliness of the over sized Paynes hive and the non protective mating edges of the two (10 frame) Swinties I also have for standby use.

Hi Buckfastbee. Welcome to the forum. I too am new to beekeeping - started this year. My experience for what it's worth is: join your local bee club, start your year in Spring, buy you first kit from a reputable main dealer, don't be afraid to ask for help. There are no silly questions when it comes to bees only silly answers. If you want to watch some great videos (in my opinion) check out Stewart Spinks of The Norfolk Honey Company - top guy.
