Matchsticks.... I am surprised you didn't make comment about the article from the previous month about seeing snow melting on the hive roof, no wonder they need matchsticks. :roll:

That would be because I never read it, as Feb was the first through my letter flat since I changed Associations....
But If I had I would have commented. :mrgreen:
It's testimony to the efficiency of clustering that bees can survive winters in a through draft . Although as Jim?Adam?alluded to one would suspect the overall winter survival rate to be less than those in well insulated hives. Plus the survivors come out of the winter in lesser numbers and presumably knackered from all that heating activity....;)
