Tip for cleaning off wax

Here is a tip on how to clean wax from queen rearing equipment, things like the Nicot or JZB cups used for grafting.
At the end of the queen rearing season we like to clean and sterilse all the equipment.
Take a large pickle jar and half fill with warm vegetable oil, rape/ canola will be fine. Drop the queen cups in and give a vigourous shake. Leave the jar somewhere warm or on a radiator. Give it a good shake now and then. After a few days all of the wax will fall off the cups. you can then drain, wash in detergent and sterilse.
They come out good as new !

Good tip. Two questions, can you strain and reuse the oil for cooking and what do you sterilse with?

I wouldn't use it for cooking !

We sterilise in a mild bleach solution, then rinse well.
