Interesting you say you had an elusive queen that was difficult to spot despite usually finding them okay.
I don’t make a habit of watching out for queens usually but expect to find them when I do look (which is half the battle).
But I have had similar issues occasionally with particular queens. What is even more weird is I had the same problem with the daughter as well. Lord knows what the inherited characteristics are for that. Invisibility cloak maybe.
