A trap can be anywhere in the sun, esp in the a.m to get the sun.

I have two at home in my garden about 60+ feet from 3 colonies.

Any fruiting trees or shrubs will attract them, plums appear to be good.

Lots of European Hornets and wasps are feasting on apples in the orchard where I keep my bees so would Asian Hornets be attracted there as well I wonder. I've only had one or two European Hornets in the wasp traps I've put out this year but they seem more interested in the apples, the traps have caught lots of wasps. I'll try Asian Hornet traps in the apple trees towards the end of summer next year in case they make it to my part of Kent.

Yes, the search that found the Lymington nest was initiated by a gardener who noticed some strange looking "wasps" on his plums (oooer missus).

V.v can turn up any where and Kent would be a prime county with so much traffic transiting from the tunnel and ports. I wouldn't be waiting until end of summer next year but now/tomorrow and most certainly some sweet liquid traps from February to monitor for foundress queens.

a mate has already started putting traps out (protein at the moment) I am gonna start doing a few. Anything that holds back the inevitable.

Experimenting with a muzzle, I made this one up in about 40mins the patient bit was enlarging the 6.35mm squares to 7.5/8mm ones.

The circular enlarged holes was easy to do, a flat bladed screwdriver with taper sides was inserted in the diagonal and them simply rotated C/W & A/C/W to for a perfect circle.
