Anyone got/used or seen one of these before? Look incredibly simple, slip on top of frames and monitor by phone.
Been looking for a UK supplier but no joy. Guy on another forum in Western Canada was recording -25C outside and +31C inside.....amazing.

Never seen one, looks a great idea, but the internal hive temp is never the same as the cluster temp in winter and the cluster moves so the sensor could be nowhere near the brood centre. ;) :)

Nice idea but first I'd need to ask any of the network providers if they wouldnt mind providing me with a network at the apiary - 5g,3g or even just perhaps one gee. :(

Not just for winter use Mick.....it will pick up sudden increases in temp in the summer as bees prepare to swarm etc.
Alfred it communicates to your phone via Bluetooth as well..apparently you just turn up point your phone at hive and it downloads data. Found a place in France that sells them for about £30 a unit.....might treat myself to one.

Bluetooth better but not much use outside weekly checkups at the apiary.
If they are below temp what else can I do?

Sorry to be a luddite but we've smashed up the last mechanical threshing machine and I'm at a loose end.

Knowledge is power...... Many of mine are about 20 yards from the house.....could sit inside and monitor them.
Alfred , I bet you scoffed when the wheel was invented:D

That was the work of the devil and the BBKA stood by and let it happen just like Mick said they would. ;)
